East Asian Archival Collections

About

The USC East Asian Library owns many rare and unique collections including historic photographs, rare books, manuscripts, videocassettes, archives, and maps. Our archives have strengths in 17-19th century western maps depicting “Sea of Korea”, Korean American history, Peace Corps volunteers in Korea, Chinese diaspora, and Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal transcripts.

Access to Archival Collections
The USC East Asian Library archival collections are open to the USC community and general public who wish to use our materials. Patrons must request materials in advance of your visit (at least one to four weeks) to consult them in the USC Special Collections Reading Room. An increasing number of our collections have been digitized and made freely available to the public, and many of them can be found under each collection tab. If you have any questions, please contact eal@usc.edu.

Use and reproduction rights
For information on permissions and rights regarding producing images from the East Asian Library's archival collections, please contact eal@usc.edu. In general, we follow the guidelines as established by USC Special Collections.

The USC Libraries are temporarily pausing acceptance of unsolicited books and other collections until further notice.

We appreciate your thinking of us. However, please keep in mind that when the pause ends, in most cases we are rarely able to accept unsolicited items. You might also consider organizations like Better World Books or Pick Up Please, or your local public library may accept donations of used books.
