Who is eligible for Home Delivery Services?Home Delivery is available for distance-based users including students, staff, and faculty. If you meet this eligibility, let's start by creating an account with IDD by clicking here. USC Libraries defines a Distance User as a student who is currently enrolled in an official distance-based and/or online academic program. A Distance Faculty as an instructor who teaches a course in an official distance-based and/or online program.If this is your first time using IDD services, you will need to create an account using your USC Net ID and identify your department and Distance User or Distance Faculty status during registration. Please note that enrollment in a distance-based or online program will be verified before the account is created. For your information, please visit USCOnline where you can review a complete listing of USC's distance and online programs.How does it work?To request a loan of a book, sign-in to your IDD account and click on the Home Delivery option under Borrow.Before submitting your request, please note the following:If you are unable to receive UPS packages at your home address, please email IDD to discuss other delivery options.Physical items that circulate from USC Libraries can be requested to ship via Home Delivery, however there are some exceptions including bound journals, audio-visual materials, and archival materials. If the item requested is unavailable or not owned by USC, we can borrow the item via Interlibrary Loan. Renewals for interlibrary loan items can be requested by following these instructions, however not all items are eligible for renewal. If you do not see the title in your account, please email IDD.Loan periods for ILL requests vary and cannot be guaranteed for the entire semester.Renewals for USC-owned items can be requested by clicking on Services then Renew Books on the USC Libraries main page. You may be prompted to login using your USC NetID and password.Return postage is available upon request (see below). Details to Remember:We currently only ship to locations in the continental United State including Alaska and Hawaii.Materials are shipped via UPS and require a street mailing address (no P.O. boxes).In some cases, the electronic version of a book (e-book) may only be available. In such cases, a link will be sent to the resource if owned by USC Libraries or an option to purchase and add to our collection will be suggested.If you have an APO/FPO address, we will send material via First Class US Mail. We are currently unable to provide return postage for APO/FPO addresses.Required course textbooks are unavailable for Home Delivery services. If you do not meet the Distance User qualifications listed above, we may be able to make a temporary exception. Please email IDD for more details.Return PostageReturn postage is available upon request.Here's what you need to know: When you are ready to return your item(s), please email IDD first to request return postage.We will then email you a UPS return label that you can print and use to send your items back to us.Drop off your item at any UPS Store or retail location that accepts outgoing UPS shipments.Be sure to keep a record of your UPS tracking number information in case of loss or mis-delivery. UPS is the only return shipping option available at this time.
